Making Art, Making Me is a creative learning partnership project with Childreach International.

From January 2012 Jo Davies will be working with schools and children in the Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania, our goal is to develop key life skills; interpersonal, communication, decision making, coping and self management through a range of exciting artistic processes.

We will be exploring Identity within a personal, local and global perspective, focuses on enhancing children’s capacity to creatively express ideas and opinions and thus become active agents of social change.  A recent publication from the Common Wealth Foundation highlights this important connection between culture and development.

    An investment in cultural spaces such as community arts centres, museums and cultural processes gives opportunities for people to express themselves articulate their needs and identify their own solutions

Therefore Making Art, Making Me is not only an excellent opportunity for children to use their imaginations and be creative, it also enhances both personal and social development through improving key life skills, raising awareness and encouraging children to find their own voice!
